SLOW OR NO RUNNING WATERArtical by Chet Thompson Reason for slow or no running water sink or shower. 1) Stopped up faucet filter or aerator filter. 2) Stopped up showerhead. 3) Broken faucet washer. 4) Bad faucet stem. 5) Clogged toilet fill valve. Aerator or spout filtersAerator do three things: They soften water splash, filter water, and conserver water. When aerator gets clogged, it is usually best to buy a new one and change it. However, they can be taken apart and be cleaned. Note illustration below: Removing aerators Unscrew turning counter clockwise. When taking an aerator apart, set the screens and screen and screen holder on the counter so that parts go back the same way they came out.
Water filters
Most water filters come apart somewhat like aerators do, just keep them as were. Shower headsMany shower are not repairable, they may need to be replaced. However, for a temporary fix shower heads can be taken off and back wash, meaning one can place the face of the shower head at forceful running water and clear out some of the sediment.Faucets and Shower body The faucet or shower body valve system can become worn and may inhabit proper operation of the system in several ways, restricting the waters flow through the faucet or shower system. Some of the things that can occur are: a) The washer or rubber seat can brake loose inside and block the water ways. b) Or the stem can come apart and reseat itself in an improper position. Toilet fill valve: little or no water Toilet fill valves can get stopped up by way of sediments in the town or city water supply. Many fill valves such as the popular Fluid Master have kits sold at hardware supply stores that will enable one to replace the top section of the fill valve so that water will flow freely again. However, most plumbers will not hesitate to change the whole fill valve because it is a better guarantee the stoppage will not recur.
