Electric stoves trouble shooting: no big deal. If one of your electric stove burners won’t come on when you turn the knob, try this little trouble shoot method: Turn off stove circuit breaker (look for 50 amp breaker or fuse) Pull out two of the burners and switch them. (Swap burners.) If swapped burner comes on, than you know you need another burner. If this fails cut off the breaker, raise the stovetop lid, expose the wires, and give it a good visual inspection. Ninety percent of the times you will find a broken wire at the or near the burner socket. To repair broken wire you may need crimp connectors and cramping tool. See your local appliance repair store a burner element rewire kit and or fire resistant wire and connectors. Oven heating element Always turn off stove circuit breaker before testing. Oven heating element has to be unbolted or disconnected and checked with an ohm meter for continuity. which means there is no break in the element.
Element
If there is a break in this circuit the electricity will not flow through it and the element will not heat up.
Other possibilities Electric control or sensor Electric control or sensor: this is the device that regulates the heat. If this device is good .the continuity should vary smoothly. If this device is bad: The continuity will not vary smoothly or at all. Or there will be no continuity.
